[THE FACT] The group iKON and BTS have received three awards each in ‘GAON Chart Music Awards’.

‘The 8th Gaon Chart Music Awards’ was held at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 23rd. The singer Kim Jongguk and Nancy, member of the group MOMOLAND, attended as MC.

The soundtrack producing award of the year was taken by iKON. Together with the producing award of the year, they also recorded their name in Long Run Soundtrack Awards of the year, and Singer of the year (digital section). 

iKON expressed their impressions as, “It’s our first time to received so many awards. We’ve been positive every time we fell. Before our song was loved this much, this song is the result of our effort, sweat, tears.” 

In soundtrack section, the singer of the year was given based monthly, and the music section was quarterly. From January to March, the soundtrack singer of the year was iKON, Roy Kim, and Big Bang respectfully, and Twice from April to July. BOL4 for May, Blackpink for June, Red Velvet for August, Lim Chang Jeong for September, IU for October, and Jennie for November. Also, the music section’s singer of the year awards was given to Wanna One for the 1st quarter, BTS for 2nd and 3rd quarter, and EXO for 4th quarter.

Rookie of the year in digital soundtrack segment was (G)i-dle, Haon Kim, and offline album section to Stray Kids, and IZ*ONE. The World Rookie Awards went to THE BOYZ, and Momoland.

The awards ceremony attracted attentions with attraction of performances and others as a festival of the stars. However, with the inexperienced hosting of Nancy as MC and with the absence of some members of BTS, EXO, Wanna One, etc., it left the feeling like it lacked.
