The group BTS has entered ‘Global Artist Top 10’ of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) as the first Korean Singer.
On the 26th (Local Standard Time), according to the ‘Global Artist Chart 2018’ disclosed by IFPI through their official website and SNS channels, BTS has ranked 2nd in Global Artist Chart.
BTS is the first Korean singer to rank in this chart. Also, it is the only album to rank top 10 in other language than English.
The ‘Global Artist Chart’ is a chart ranked by the sum of the numbers of the digital soundtrack downloads, and audio and video streaming together with the actual album sales volume worldwide yearly.
IFPS has explained as, “BTS has ranked 2nd for the first time in global artist chart. BTS has been successful worldwide with LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear’ and LOVE YOURSELF 結 ‘Answer’ which released in May and August of 2018 respectfully. BTS has established the global fandom through ‘ARMY’ and has played a big role in raising K-Pop to global stages.”.
On the released Global Artist Chart, together with BTS the following artists were selected: Drake as 1st, Ed Sheeran as 3rd, Post Malone as 4th, Eminem as 5th, Queen as 6th, Imagine Dragons as 7th, Ariana Grande as 8th, Lady Gaga as 9th, and Bruno Mars as 10th.
